CORNELIUS BISHOP
Cornelius J. Bishop, 81, 712 Milwaukee St., Lomira, died Sunday, July 5, 1992, at St. Agnes Hospital.
He was born Nov. 28, 1910, in the Town of Ashford, a son of Jacob and Lucy Kiefer Bishop. On Feb. 13, 1954, he married Alice Beitz at El Paso, Ill.
Mr. Bishop was a graduate of Lomira High School and University of Wisconsin-Madison. He established Bishop Insurance Agency in Lomira and was in the insurance business for 50 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force in Europe during World War II, and received the Award of Silver Battle Star for serving in five battle zones.
Mr. Bishop was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Lomira, a member and past president of the church's Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus, and the American Legion of Lomira. He was a former Lomira Village Board member, past president of the Lomira Lions Club, and a former member of Professional Agents Association and Independent Agents of Wisconsin. He was active in sports, most recently enjoying bowling and golf.
Survivors include his wife, one son, Michael C. and his wife Jane of Kohler, one daughter, Patricia A. Michels and her husband Don of Fond du Lac; six grandchildren, Michelle, Nicole and Craig Bishop, and Jessica, Joshua and Tyler Michels; one sister, Agnes Hall of Campbellsport; and one sister-in-law, Marie Bosky of Rolla, Mo.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Church, Lomira. The Rev. Stephen J. Stradinger will officiate, and burial will be at the parish cemetery.
Visitation is from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Kietzer Funeral Home, Lomira, where a prayer service will be held at 8:30 p.m.
Memorials in his name may be directed to Hospice Hope of St. Agnes Hospital or St. Mary's Church, Lomira.
