Daniel Augustine Costello, 92, of Route 2, in the Town of Fond du Lac, died at 9:25 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, 1979, at St. Agnes Hospital.
Born in the Town of Byron on Aug. 28, 1887, he was also of the late Thomas E. and Anna F. Lonergan Costello. He attended Nels P. Anderson District School and a farm short course at University of Wisconsin Madison. On Nov. 18, 1914, he married Sarah G. Meade at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Eden.
Mr. Costello was a farmer in the Town of Byron and Fond du Lac. He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church at Byron ad the Holy Name Society. He was a life member of Council 664 Knights of Columbus, and at the time of his death was the oldest and longest standing member of the organization.
He was a member of Fond du Lac County and State Guernsey Breeders Association and was recognized by the county association in 1958 and by the state association in 1978 for his many years of membership. He served as director of Nels P. Anderson School District for many years and was treasurer of the Town of Fond du Lac for several years.
Survivors include two sons, John T. of Fond du Lac and James D. of Route 2, Malone; two daughters, Miss Monica A. Costello of Route 2 and Mrs. Leonard (Mary Catherine) Brown of Fond du Lac; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are a brother, Francis T. of Route 2; and three sisters, Miss Dora A. Costello of Route 2, Mrs. Margaret Hass and Mrs. John (Helen) Ries both of Fond du Lac. He was preceded in death by his wife on April 30, 1954 and by an infant brother; two grandsons and a sister.
Friends of Mr. Costello may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. The time and place of the funeral services will be announced in the Reporter on Friday.
