DOLORES M. PETERS

Dolores Mary Ogle Peters, 76 , of rural Byron passed away Saturday afternoon, Jan. 20, 2001, at St. Agnes Hospital following complications from surgery.

She was born in Sheboygan Falls on Nov. 28, 1924, daughter of John and Lydia Jacobs Ogle.

She married Carroll Herman “Pete” Peters at Oakfield on Oct. 9, 1948.  Together they operated the Peters family farm until Carroll’s death in 1979.

Dolores worked for the U.S. Postal Service from 1942 to 1948 and served on the Town of Byron Election Board for several years.  She was an active member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Byron and the Altar Society.  She also served as past trustee of Equitable Reserve Association, Oakfield Assembly 108.

Dolores loved to spend time with her family and grandchildren.  She was an avid Packer fan, accomplished bowler and enjoyed fishing, golfing, camping and vacationing in Door County.

Survivors include three daughters, Jane (Timothy) Kaiser of North Fond du Lac, Susan (James ) Zimmerman of Waupun and Cheryl (Steven) Wessing of Byron; one son, Charles (Renee) Peters of Pewaukee; 10 grandchildren; Timothy Jr. and Craig Kaiser, Angela (fiancé Clay Daane), Amy and Ashley Zimmerman, Kaitlyn, Emily and Cassandra Wessing, and Samuel and Lianne Peters; two sisters, Carita (Donald) Fisher of Waldo and Mary E. (Joseph) Gilles of Oakfield; one brother Gerald (Gloria) Ogle of Neskoro; three sisters-in-law; Irma Ogle Gremmer of Oakfield, Hilda Ogle of Oakfield and Orion (Vincent) Fashun of rural Eldorado.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carroll; two brothers, Donald and Roger; and in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Roman (Arleen) Wenzel; Mr. and Mrs. Vilas (Audrey) Burian.

Services:  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, at Sons of Zebedee (St. John’s) in Byron, with the Rev. James Posanski officiating.  Burial will follow at Byron Cemetery.

Visitation:  From 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, at Kietzer Funeral Home, Lomira, and at Sons of Zebedee from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the time of service.

Memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association.
