FORREST PIXLEY

Forrest D. Pixlely, 73, of 150 W. Church St., Oakfield, died Wednesday, April 30, 1997, at All About Life Rehabilitation Center.

He was born June 16, 1923, at Fond du Lac, a son of Wynard E. and Eva Jones Pixley.  On June 2, 1956, he married Rose M. Thill at St. Patrick’s Church, Fond du Lac.

He served in the United States Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict.  He was employed as a mechanic for Fond du Lac County for 15 years and then by Giddings & Lewis for more than 25 years, retiring in 1986.

He and his wife took in and cared for 16 foster children.

He was a member of St. James Catholic Church, Oakfield, and VFW Post No. 8092, Oakfield.

Survivors include his wife, Rose; two daughters, Darlene Lucero and her husband Gary of Pueblo, Colo., and Carol Zahn and her husband Mike of Lomira; a son, David Pixley and his wife Julie of Fond du Lac; eight grandchildren, Shawn Thde and his wife Mary of Lakin Heath Air Force Base, England, Andrew and Amy Thde of Pueblo, Colo., Rebecca and Angela Fink of Mayville, Edward Flury of Oakfield, and Dustin and Douglas Pixley of Fond du Lac; seven great-grandchildren, Samantha, Max, Jennifer, Bradley, Dillon, Abigail and Alysa; five sisters, Elsie O’Laughlin and her husband Leonard, Eleanoris Lohse, Eleanor Everson, Ethel Rumbuc and her husband John, all of Fond du Lac, and Iola Kuehl and her husband Russel of Theresa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Joseph Wiese; a sister, Evelyn Haase; and four brothers-in-law.

Services:  Will be held at 9:45 a.m. Monday at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. James Church, Oakfield, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held.  The Rev. Donald J. Zerkel will officiate.  Burial will be at Avoca Cemetery, Oakfield.

Visitation:  Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home.  A parish vigil will be held Sunday at 8 p.m. at the funeral home
