GERALD W. SCHAEFER
Gerald W. Schaefer, 72, of W6675 County Trunk Y, Brownsville, Wis., (town of Byron), died Saturday, March 29, 2008, at Hospice Home of Hope, Fond du Lac, Wis.
He was born on Sept. 20, 1935, in Ashford, Wis., the son of Leo and Anna Kuechler Schaefer.
On Sept. 6, 1958, he was married to Mary Ann Doll at St. Lawrence, Wis.
Together with his family he farmed in the town of Byron. He was employed by Reliance Construction Co. and retired from Waas Boring & Cable, Knowles, Wis. He was a member of sons of Zebedee Catholic Church, Byron. Gerald enjoyed gardening and was always helping other.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann; his children Debbie (Kevin) Steger of Mayville, Dale Schaefer of Brownsville and Donna (John) Komassa of Fort Atkinson; his sisters and brother, Erwin (Sylvia) Schaefer of Lomira, Eugene (Mary) Schaefer of Fond du Lac, Charles (Marlene) Schaefer of Cedarburg, Geraldine (Joseph) Feucht of Las Vegas, Nev., and Catherine (Curtis) Rauch of LeRoy; and his grandchildren, William and Joseph. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Nicholas Steger in 1993; two brothers, Earl and Stuart; and one sister, Myrtle.
Services: A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2008, at St James Catholic Church, Oakfield, Wis. The Rev. Michael Petersen will officiate, and inurnment will be at St. John’s Cemetery, Byron, Wis.
Visitation: Visitation will be held from 9 until 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 5, 208, at St. James Catholic Church, Oakfield, Wis. Memorials may be directed to St. Agnes Hospice Home of Hope. Koepsell Funeral Home in Mayville is serving the family.
