IVAN J. BEIRNE
FOND DU LAC –Ivan J. Beirne, 89, of Fond d Lac, formerly of Oakfield, died Friday, Jan. 31, 2003, at St. Agnes Hospital.
A memorial Mass will be held on Monday, Feb. 3, at 6:30 p.m. at Sons of Zebedee, St. James Catholic Church, 101 N. Main St., Oakfield. The Rev. James Posanski will officiate. A private family inurnment service will be in Avoca Cemetery.
Ivan was born on April, 1913, in Oakfield, the son of the late George and Regina (Mathieu) Beirne. He was married to Florence Kiestlinski on Feb. 26, 1938, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Fond du Lac. They enjoyed a 56 year marriage.
Ivan was an avid sports fan all of his life. He rarely missed a sporting event held at Oakfield High School. He also enjoyed watching the Fond du Lac Cardinals and of course, the Green Bay Packers. He worked on the family farm for many years. During this time he organized and operated a stock car race track on the farm. He also sold cars for many years and was known as “The Happy Farmer.” He enjoyed dancing and was a member of the “We Love to Dance Club.”
Survivors include four children, Marlene (Neil) Stoppleworth, Oakfield, Barbara (Kenneth) Brandenburger, Randolph, George (Nancy) Beirne, Fond du Lac and Lynn (Sue) Beirne, Oakfield; 12 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence, on May 23, 1994, one sister, and his parents.
Family and friends will be received following the memorial Mass during a time of fellowship and remembrance.
