James H. Nelson, 47, Route 1, 365 Oak St. Oakfield, died Thursday, March 5, 1992 at his residence.
He was born Sept, 10, 1944 in Fond du Lac, a son of Howard A. and Vivian M. Shaw Nelson. On June 29, 1968, he married Gail R. Burleton at St. Mary's Church in Fond du Lac.
He was employed by Giddings & Lewis for a number of years and then by Mercury Marine where he worked in Plant 8. One year ago, he was transferred to Plant 4 where he worked in the Maintenance Department. He was a member of Local 1947.
Nelson served in the Army from 1963 to 1966. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church, Oakfield and of the Oakfield Conservation Club. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed restoring antique cars.
Survivors include his wife, Gail of Oakfield; one son, Jerred and one daughter, Annette both at home; his father, Howard of Oakfield; three brothers, Kenneth Nelson of Oakfield, Joseph Nelson and his wife Jill and Robert (Matt) Nelson and his wife Jackie, all of Fond du Lac. Six sister, Betty Ryan and her husband Joel, Carol Day, and Jean Koenen and her husband Ben, all of Fond du Lac, Karen Bovee and her husband Gary, Susan Uttendorfer and her husband Paul, all of Oakfield, Helen Holz and her husband Jerry of Waupun, and nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Vivian on Aug. 16, 1991, one brother, John and one nephew, Jay Holz.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10:15 a.m. at Zacherl Funeral Home and a Mass of Resurrection at 11 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, Oakfield with the Revs. Donald Zerkel and Guy Gurath concelebrating. Burial will take place in Avoca Cemetery, Oakfield.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home where a parish vigil will take place at 7:30 p.m. A memorial has been established in his name.
