Mrs. Katharina Scharschmidt, 92, formerly of Oakfield, died Wednesday, March 2, 1983, at Rolling Meadows Nursing Home.
She was born Feb. 22, 1891, in Yugoslavia, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Pfuhl. She came to America in her youth. In 1909, she was married to George Scharschmidt in Milwaukee.
The couple came to the Oakfield area where they farmed, retiring in 1950 and moving to the village, where she was a member of St. James Catholic Church and a charter member of the Altar Society.
Survivors include two sons, Charles of Lomira and Anthony of Fond du Lac; eight grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Julius Gross of Sebring, Fla. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1961, and by a brother.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. James Church, Oakfield. The Rev. Richard Fechhelm will officiate, and burial will be in Avoca Cemetery, Oakfield.
Friends of Mrs. Scharschmidt may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at Kohls Funeral Home, Oakfield.
