ST. PATRICK’S RITE SET FOR MRS. OBRIEN
Mrs. Loretta E. OBrien, 77, resident of Eden and mother of Rev. Claude T. OBrien, pastor of St. Patrick’s Church, died at 9:15 a.m. today at St. Agnes Hospital following a lingering illness.
The former Loretta Ferguson was born April 26, 1890, in Byron, the daughter of John and Mary Ann Sheridan Ferguson. She was married to Charles H. OBrien on Nov. 24, 199, at St. John’s Catholic Church, Bryon. Mr. OBrien died on May 15, 1949.
Mrs. OBrien attended Oshkosh State Normal and the Fond du Lac Business College. She was a member of St. Josephs Church, Altar and Rosary Society and charter member of the Daughters of Isabella. She had not been active in this organization for a number of years due to ill health. Her husband had been in postal service for 45 years and they had operated the Fairview Grocery Store at Eight Street and Fond du Lac Avenue.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Charles Hillebrand, Eden, with whom she lived, and Miss Jeanne E. OBrien of Madison; three sons, Father OBrien, C. Leonard OBrien of Mill Valley, Calif., and James E. OBrien, Milwaukee; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandchild, six brothers and three sisters.
Visitation is scheduled after 3 p.m. Friday at the Zacherl Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home and 11 am. at St. Patrick’s Church, Father OBrien officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Byron.
