Obituary
Mary Ann E. Schaefer, 80, of Lomira, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Hope Senior Living.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Dec. 26th at St. Mary Catholic Church in Lomira at 1:00 p.m. A visitation will be held on Saturday, Dec. 26th from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., also at church. The Rev. Father Mike Peterson will be presiding. Inurnment will take place on Sunday, Dec. 27th at 12:30 p.m. at St. John Cemetery, Byron.
Mary Ann was born on October 14, 1935 to Herman and Anna (Engeleiter) Doll, Sr. She was raised in the St. Lawrence area. On September 6, 1958 she married Gerald Schaefer at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, St. Lawrence WI. Mary Ann farmed with her husband Gerald in South Byron. After her children were grown she worked at Al's IGA and later at Schreiner's Restaurant until her retirement. She was a member of Sons of Zebedee – St. John Catholic Church in Byron.
Mary Ann enjoyed cutting lawn, gardening, baking, listening to polka music, watching the Packers, word searches and Sudoku. She also enjoyed watching the Bachelor and Dancing with the Stars. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Mary Ann is survived by her children- Deborah (Kevin) Steger of Mayville, Dale (Shannon) Schaefer of Waupun, Donna (John) Komassa of Waunakee; her grandchildren- William and Joseph Steger of Mayville; her step-grandchildren Tiffany (Brian) Knapp and Tricia (Dennis) Souder; her step-great-grandchild Aiden Meidl; her brother and sisters- Leroy (Veronica) Doll of Hartford, Armella Dolgner of Delavan, and Virginia (Stan) Griesemer of Franklin; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law- Joseph Melzer of Neillsville, Carol Doll of Germantown, Julia Doll of Natchitoches, LA, Mary Schaefer of Fond du Lac, Pauline (Emil) Ronning of Fond du Lac, Marlene Schaefer of Cedarburg, Geraldine (Joseph) Feucht of Beaver Dam, Catherine (Curt) Rauch of Leroy, and Delores Neumeyer of Mayville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Gerald in 2008; her grandson Nicholas in 1993; her brothers- Herman Doll, Jr., Leander Doll, and Eugene Doll; her sisters- Dorothy Muckerheide and Theresa Melzer; her brothers-in-law- Henry Guetzkow, Wayne Dolgner, Grenfol Zwieg, Albert Muckerheide, Erwin Schaefer, Earl Schaefer, Charles Schaefer, Eugene Schaefer, and Stuart Schaefer; her sisters-in-law Myrtle Schaefer and Sylvia Schaefer; her parents-in-law Leo and Anna Schaefer; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hope Senior Living or to Agnesian Hospice Hope.
