Obituary
Ralph L. Ries, 80, formerly of Lomira, died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2007, at Kindred Hearts in Fond du Lac, where he had been a resident since February 2006.
He was born May 1, 1927, in Lomira, the son of John and Martha Mayer Ries.On Oct. 18, 1950, he married Rosetta Kraus at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mount Calvary. She preceded him in death on Nov. 17, 1995.
Mr. Ries was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lomira. He farmed in the Lomira area all his life. He loved farming, playing cards with the many card groups to which he belonged, going out to eat and time with his family. He was a member of the Lomira FFA alumni and a past member of the Lomira Lions Club and Men of St. Mary's.
Surviving are his five children, Gerald, Ronald, Donald Ries, Cecilia (Jerrold) Jordan and Robert (Vicky) Ries, all of Lomira; and his four grandchildren, Michael and Timothy Jordan and Andrew and Brittany Ries. Also surviving are his brother, Norman (Cecilia) Ries of Neshkoro; his sisters-in-law, Evelyn Cords of Fond du Lac and Rosetta Kraus of Mount Calvary; and his brothers-in-law, Marvin (Betty) Kraus, Ralph (Bernice) Kraus of Mount Calvary, Alex (Marlene) Kraus of Eden and Charles (Tootie) Kraus of New Holstein.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his stepmother, Helen Ferguson Ries; a sister, Laverne Fox; and his brothers-in-law, Bob Fox, Anthony Kraus, Jerome Kraus and Al Cords.
Visitation: Visitation for Mr. Ralph Ries will be from 9:30 a.m. to noon on Monday, Sept. 3, 2007, at St. Mary's Church in Lomira.
Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon on Monday, Sept. 3, 2007, at St. Mary's Church, Lomira. The Rev. Dennis Budka will officiate. Entombment will be at the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Fond du Lac.
