Obituary
ENTERED INTO REST
On Saturday morning, Rev. Fr. Bernard Weyer, after a protracted illness, died at the residence of his brother, Fr. Nicholas Weyer in Mineral Point. Services were held at St. Mary’s Church on Monday; the remains were taken to Lomira, the childhood home of the decedent, where burial took place on Wednesday.
Father Bernard Weyer was born in 1861, and was the eldest of three brothers who were called to the service of the church. He was ordained to the priesthood June 29, 1885; and during the 32 years of his service in the church was a faithful, conscientious priest.
On Monday morning, solemn high mass was celebrated by Fr. Nicholas Weyer, assisted by his brother, Fr. Michael Weyer and Frs. McGinnity and Morris. Frs. Nevin and O’Reilly were present in the sanctuary. The C.K. OF W., of which Fr. Weyer was a member, acted as guard of honor during the time the body lay in state in St. Mary’s Church. At the close of the services, Fr. O’Reilly spoke eloquently of the labor and service of the deceased in the church and the work of the priest in the parish.
