ROSEMARY GERTRUDE SUKOWATEY
Rosemary Gertrude Sukowatey, 81, of South Byron, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011.
She was born on May 18, 1929, to Rose and Clarence Thurk Sr. in the township of LeRoy.
She attended LeRoy Wuthnow Public Grade School from 1935 to 1943. She attended Mayville High School from 1943 to 1947; she then received her degree from the Business Institute of Milwaukee.
She was united in marriage to Edward Wild Sukowatey of Mayville, on Oct. 22, 1949, at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in LeRoy.
The couple resided in Waterloo until they moved to Fond du Lac, and in 1953, they moved to South Byron, where they have lived for the past 57 years. They were married for 61 years.
Rosemary was an active member of Sons of Zebedee, St. John’s Catholic Church in Byron. Rosemary was employed as a cook at the American Legion Post 347 and at Wisconsin Auto Auction for many years, both in Lomira. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and was a lifetime member of Wisconsin DAV. She will be fondly remembered for the enjoyment she received from being a loving family. The family also wishes to acknowledge special friends, Harry and Helen Eichman, Merwin and Bernice Sampson, and Dan and Paula Homuth.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents; a stillborn son; her brothers Charles Thurk and George Thurk; and her nephews, Duane Thurk and Butch Thurk.
Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Jan. 10, 2011, at 11 a.m. fat Sons of Zebedee, St. John’s Catholic Church in Byron. The Rev. Fr. Michael Wild will serve as celebrant.
Burial will follow a St. John Cemetery in Byron.
Visitation: A visitation for Rosemary will be held on Sunday, Jan. 9, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Koepsell Funeral Home in Mayville; and again on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11 a.m. at the church.
The family wishes to express a very special thank you to the staff of Heartland Hospice of Fond du Lac and to the Arc Angels for their Christian, loving and compassionate care shown to Rosemary.
