Funeral services for Roy J. Champeau, 86, of 26 Stapley Circle, Zephyrhills, Fla., and a former Oakfield resident, will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, Oakfield.
The Rev. Peter Drenzek will officiate. Burial will follow at Avoca Cemetery, Oakfield.
Family and friends may call Friday from 3 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. until the hour of service at Kohls Funeral Home, Oakfield.
Mr. Champeau died Monday, Jan. 26, 1987, at Zephyrhaven Nursing Home, Zephyrhills, Fla., where he had resided the past year.
He was born April 5, 1900, in Wausaukee, to Patrick J. and Laura De Tienne Champeau. He married Mae Burns on Sept. 24, 1924. She preceded him in death in June, 1977. He later married Pearl Lore.
Mr. Champeau was raised in Oconto County and moved to Oakfield in 1947 where he farmed until 1955. He then moved to Fond du Lac where he was employed as an auto mechanic for Service Motors until his retirement in 1965. He had resided in Florida since 1970.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Pat of Oakfield, John of Winona, Minn., Jerome of Tampa, Fla., and David of Green Bay; three daughters, Mrs. Lloyd (Mary) Laundrie and Mrs. Andy (Bette) Shandor, both of Green Bay, and Mrs. John (Cathy) Calhoun of Lilburn, Ga.; 26 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Earl of Milwaukee, and Alvin of Sheboygan; and five sisters, Delores Sagel of Plymouth, Laura Krueger and Tavie Sagel, both of Sheboygan, Evelyn La Combe of Oconto and Victoria Guenther of Stratford. Preceding him in death were two brothers.
