SERVICES SET FOR VICTIM OF CRASH, 24

Funeral services for Thomas Scharf, 24, of 301 E. 10th St. who was killed in a plane crash Tuesday night near Van Dyne will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Uecker-Witt funeral Home and 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church.

The Rev. Donald A. Peters will officiate and burial will be in Byron Parish Cemetery.

Details of the plane crash appear on page 1.

He was born July 22, 1945 a son of Sy and Virginia M Landreman Scharf.

Mr. Scharf was a member of St. Patrick’s Church and was graduated from Goodrich Senior High School in 1964. He entered the U.S. Air Force, served in ***land and was discharged **** 1968 as a sergeant. He was employed as a fireman at the Soo Line Railroad.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by four sisters, Sylvia Scharf of San Francisco, Calif., Mrs. H. H. Salzarulo of Tokyo, Japan, Mrs. Michael Hallman of the city and Diane, at home; one brother, Jeffrey P. Scharf, at home, and his grandmother, Mrs. L. J. Landreman of the city.

Funeral services for Thomas Scharf, who died Tuesday, were held at 9:30 a.m. today at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. from St. Patrick’s Church, the Rev. Donald A. Peters officiating.
Burial was in Byron Parish Cemetery. Pallbearers were Charles Haessly, Richard Jones. Patrick Lamb, James Landreman, Sam LaMalfa and Jerry Scharf.
Trier-Puddy Post 75 of the American Legion conducted graveside services with the following participating: color bearers, Henry Rucks and Don Kinney, color guards, Tage Swanson and Victor Broome; firing detail, Everett Culver, Andrew F. Johnson, John Pitas, Al Balthazor and Leo Marcoe; bugler, Robert Samuel, commander, Edson Stubbs.
