Vernon F. Flood, 81, of N4308 Highway 151, Oakfield, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2004, at
St. Luke’s Hospital in Milwaukee.
He was born in the Town of Eden on Jan. 13, 1923, the son of Francis and Dora Gremminger Flood.
On Oct. 2, 1948, Vernon married Gladys Koenigs at St. Mary’s Church, Fond du Lac. They farmed together in the Towns of Eden, Byron and Oakfield.
He was a member of Sons of Zebedee-Saint James and John Parish in Oakfield. He was an usher at his church, a former member of the Byron Campground School Board, an avid square dancer, and he enjoyed traveling. Vernon also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and attending their many activities.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys; his children, Michael of Oakfield, Kathleen (Robert) Grebe of
Owatonna, Minn., Mary Ellen Flood of Grand Junction, Colo., Patricia (James ) Bovee of Oakfield, Daniel (Wendy) of Oakfield, Maureen (Peter) Joy of Waterford, Carol (Mike) Roller of Merton and William (Stacey) of Fond du Lac; 21 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; a sister, Jane (Darwin) Tonn of Campbellsport; a sister-in-law, Marion Flood of Mount Calvary; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Allen R. and John D.;’ a brother, Jerome; and a sister, Bernice Majerus.
Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004, at Sons of Zebedee-St. James Church, Oakfield. The Rev. John Schmitz will officiate, and cremation will follow.
Visitation: Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 23, 20004, at Twohig Funeral Home, Fond du Lac, and from 10 a.m. until the time of services on Saturday, Jan. 24, at the church.
A memorial will be established. Twohig Funeral Home, Fond du Lac; is serving the family.
