William Ryan, 99, of Oakfield, died Saturday evening at Rolling Meadows Nursing Home, Fond du Lac.
He was born July 12, 1882, in Plymouth, Iowa, a son of the late Dennis and Anna Olson Ryan.
On Feb. 14, 1912, he and Grace DeVoy were married in Mason City, Iowa.
The couple made their home in the Oakfield area, where he was employed by Mammoth Springs Canning Co., Oakfield. He retired in 1971.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Madonna Schaefer and Mrs. Alvin (Margaret) Conger, both of Oakfield; seven sons, Russell and Dwayne of Oakfield, James and Donald of Fond du Lac, William of Plymouth, Gordon of Brown Deer, Bernard of Liberal, Kansas; 38 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren and four step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife; two sons, two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, Oakfield, with the Rev. Richard Fechhelm, pastor, celebrant, following family rites at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Kohls Funeral Home, Oakfield.
Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Byron.
Friends may call at the funeral home and from 3 to 9 p.m. today.
