ALEX HEFTER
Alex M. Hefter, 68, of Route 1, Brownsville, Town of Byron, died Thursday, May 3, 1990, at his residence.
He was born Nov. 10, 1921, in the Town of Byron, a son of Henry and Petronella Hilbert Hefter. On Sept. 12, 1944, he married Dorothy Schneider at St. Peter’s Church, St. Peter.
Mr. Hefter was employed with Mammoth Springs Canning Co., the Soo Line Railroad, Mercury marine, and Dorst Metal Craft, as a machine operator in Mayville. He was also engaged in farming in the Byron area prior to retirement and was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church,
Byron, and the St. Lawrence Seminary Parents Guild.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, James A. and his wife Jane of Fond du Lac, and Mark G. and his wife Beverly of Byron; six daughters, Phyllis Haller and her husband David and Miss Jacqueline Hefter, both of Fond du Lac, Susan Wennersten of Warner Robins, Ga., Mary George and her husband Mike of Three Lakes, Joan Montezon and her husband Ron of Eau Claire and Annette Snedden and her husband John of Eagle River; 16 grandchildren; three brothers, Harold of Fond du Lac, Frank of Chicago, and Robert of Milwaukee; and four sisters, Mrs. Henrietta Mueller of Fond du Lac, Mrs. Mary Foster of Arizona, Mrs. Annie Seastrand of Milwaukee, and Mrs. Evelyn LaValle of California.
Preceding him in death were three sisters and one brother.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:15 a.m. at Zacherl Funeral Home, and at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church, Byron. The Rev. Guy Gurath will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call today from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home where a parish vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
Memorials in his name may be directed to St. John’s Church or St. Agnes Hospice Hope Program.
