Alphonse W. Weyer, 91, of Lomira, passed away on Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac.
He was born on November 10, 1920, in the town of Lomira, the son of the late Nicholas and Frances (Kiefer) Weyer, and on May 22, 1946, he was united in marriage to Loraine Ruplinger at St. Kilian Catholic Church in St. Kilian.
Alphonse farmed in the Lomira and Theresa areas. He was employed by Baker Canning Company in Theresa and later worked for the village of Lomira for 12 years. After retirement, he worked part-time at Hope Health and Rehabilitation Center in Lomira.
Alphonse was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lomira, where he served as an usher and was a former member of the Holy Name Society and the Knights of Columbus 664 in Fond du Lac. He was also a member of the Monday Morning Senior Bowling League, the Senior Card Club in Campbellsport and the Lomira Senior Citizens.
Alphonse and Loraine enjoyed traveling and enjoyed a trip to Germany and visits to the eastern and western parts of the United States. Alphonse will fondly be remembered as a sharp sheepshead player, and will be deeply missed by his wife, his family and by all who knew him.
Those Alphonse leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife of 65 years, Loraine; two sons, Donald (Melody) Weyer of Shorewood and Albert Weyer of Mesa, Arizona; two grandsons, Nicholas and Stephen Weyer; two sisters, Florence (Ellsworth) Munroe of Greenfield and Theresa Weyer of West Allis, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Alphonse was preceded in death by two brothers, Leo (Maxine) and Clarence Weyer; an infant brother, Nicholas and a sister, Martha (Charles) Lapinski.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Alphonse was held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 23, 2012, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 699 Milwaukee Street in Lomira, following a 10:30 a.m. prayer service at the Kietzer-Miller Funeral Home in Lomira. Father Dennis Budka officiated and burial followed Mass in the parish cemetery.
Relatives and friends called at the funeral home on Sunday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. and again on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the prayer service at 10:30.
