DENNIS RYAN

Dennis Russell “Russ”  Ryan, 71, Filbey St., Oakfield, died Saturday, June 16, 1984, at his home.

The son of William and Grace De Voy Ryan, he was born Aug. 18, 1912, in Mason City, Iowa.  On Jan. 30, 1941, he married Thelma Jagdfeldt in Byron.  He was a retired correctional officer from the Waupun Correctional Institution.  He delivered elderly nutrition meals in Oakfield.

Mr. Ryan was a member of St. James Catholic Church, Oakfield, where he was a member of the Holy Name Society.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, an honorary director of the Oakfield Conservation Club, an honorary member of the Oakfield Fire Department and a member of the Oakfield Senior Citizens.

Survivors of Mr. Ryan include his wife, Thelma; one daughter, Mrs. David (Patricia) Volbright, Oakfield; two sons, Thomas Ryan and LeRoy Bierne, both of Fond du Lac; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild; five brothers, Jim of Fond du Lac, William of Plymouth, Gordon of Brown Deer, Bernard of Liberal, Kan., and Duwayne of Oakfield; and two sisters, Madonna Schaefer and Mrs. Alvin (Meg) Conger, both of Oakfield.  He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Kohls Funeral Home, Oakfield, and at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, Oakfield.  The Rev. George Gibbons will officiate.  Entombment will be in Ledgeview Mausoleum.Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday at Kohls Funeral Home, Oakfield.
