DOROTHY AGNES HEFTER
Mrs. Dorothy Agnes Hefter, 84, a former resident of W6208 County Trunk F., Brownsville, Town of Byron, passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2005, a Rolling Meadows Nursing Home.
She was born Oct. 14, 1920, in Silica, Wis., a daughter of the late Matthew and Rose Freund Schneider.
On Sept. 12, 1944, she married Alex M. Hefter at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, St. Peter.
Dorothy was a graduate of St. Peter’s Grade School.
She was employed by Model Laundry as a seamstress. She then worked for Fond du Lac County and later at St. Francis Home in the housekeeping department and retired from the St. Francis Home in 1985. She was a member of Sons of Zebedee-St. John’s Byron, and the church’s Women’s Altar Society, Church Women United and Milwaukee Archdiocese Catholic Counsel of Women. She was a 4-H leader for several years. She enjoyed and was active in sewing, flower and vegetable gardening and canning.
Survivors include two sons, James A (Susan) Schessow) Hefter of Fond du Lac and Mark G (Beverly) Hefter, missionaries with Wycliffe, Papus, New Guinea; six daughters, Phyllis (David) Haller of Fond du Lac, Susan Wennersten of Warner Robins, Ga., Mary (Mike) George of North Fond du Lac, Joan Montezon of Rhinelander, Annette (John) Sneden of Eagle River, and Jacqueline (Paul) Christie of Fond du Lac; 18 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She is further survived by five brothers, Orlando Schneider of Mount Calvary, Alphonso (Shirley) Schneider of Fond d Lac, Roman (Marcella) Schneider of Silica, Adolph (Virginia) Schneider of St. Peter, and Roger Schneider of Silica; three sisters, Crescentia Schmitz of Mount Calvary, Helena Giebel of Woodhull and Emelda Nett of Fond du Lac; one brother-in-law, Fred Zwicky of North Fond du Lac; one sister-in-law, Marion Schneider of Mount Calvary; many nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alex on May 3, 1990; one brother Bernard Schneider; one sister, Loretta Zwicky; one son-in-law, Ron Montezon; two brothers-in-law, Gilbert Schmitz and Paul Giebel; and one sister-in-law, Marilyn Schneider.
Services: A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at 4 p.m. on Monday, April 18, 205, at Sons of Zebedee-St. John’s Byron. The Rev. Michael Petersen will officiate. Burial will be at the parish cemetery.
Visitation: Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to the time of services on Monday, April 18, 2005, at the church.
Memorials in her name may be directed to Sons of Zebedee. Zacherl Funeral Home is serving the family.
