Obituary
FRANCIS McCARTY
Francis Joseph McCarty, 84, of 412 Main St., Brownsville, died Monday, Dec. 4, 1995, at his home, following an apparent heart attack.
He was born on June 10, 1922, in Brownsville, a son of Edward H. and Freida H. Bauer McCarty. On Nov. 2, 1975, he married Theresa S. Stiener at St. Joseph's Church in Fond du Lac.
Mr. McCarty attended St. Mary's Grade School in Lomira and Mayville High School. He was a rural mail carrier for all of the Brownsville area and served as Brownsville postmaster.
Mr. McCarty also taught at one-room schools in Dodge County. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II in Europe and North Africa. He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Lomira, Bintzler-Waehler American Legion Post 347 of Lomira, and Dodge County Retired Teachers Association.
He was interested in helping and did volunteer work, including the Blood Bank. He was an avid fisherman and sports fan and was quite a capable baseball player in his younger years. He was especially liked by his postal patrons for whom he generously served. Many called him "Ducky" in his earlier years.
Survivors include one brother, Richard and his wife Edith of Brownsville; and nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his wife; one brother. Lawrence; and one sister, Marie.
Services: Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Church in Lomira. The Rev. Steve Stradinger will officiate. Cremation will take place, with the urnment at St. Mary's Cemetery.
Visitation: Friends may call from 10 a.m. Thursday to the time of services at the church.
