George J. Steiner, 98, of 95 Sixth St., died this morning Oct. 6, 1983, at his home.
He was born March 12 1895 in Town of Lomira, to the late Jacob and Sophia Railing Steiner. He attended the business College of Milwaukee and UW-Madison. On May 12, 1908, he married Susan Elizabeth Welsch.
Mr. Steiner farmed on the Badger Road, Town of Lomira, for many6 years. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Holy Name Society, Steiner Band, Percheron Association, Holstein Friesian Association and South Byron Grange.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Maybelle Adashun and Mrs. Lillian Luedtke both of Campbellsport, Mr. Francis (Tess) McCarty of Fond du Lac and Mrs. Willard (Joan) Kleppe of Chicago; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife on Feb. 24, 1967, and by four brothers, three sisters and his stepmother.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Twohig Funeral Home, Fond du Lac, and at noon at St. Joseph’s Church. The Rev. Alois Van Beek will officiate, and burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lomira.
Visitation for Mr. Steiner will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home here.
