MRS. HELEN RIES
Mrs. Helen Ferguson Ries, 89, of 291 18th St., died Sunday, Oct. 16, 1983, at St. Agnes Hospital.
She was born May 22, 1894, in the Town of Byron, to the late Thomas and Ann Longergan Costello. She was married to William F. Ferguson on Sept. 2, 1914, at St. John’s Catholic Church, Byron, and he died Feb. 12, 1937. On Nov. 9, 1957, she was married to John P. Ries at St. John’s Church, Byron.
Ms. Ries was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church here.
Surviving are her husband; a son, John Ferguson of Route 2; three daughters, Mrs George M. (Margaret) O’Brien and Mrs. Gene (Rosemary) O’Brien both of Route 1, Eden, and Mrs. Delphine Johnson of Appleton; and two stepsons, Ralph and Norman Ries both of Lomira.
Also surviving are 11 grandchildren; 15 step grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren; a brother, Francis Costello of Byron; and a sister, Dora Costello of Byron. She was preceded in death by a son, Stepdaughter, two sisters, a brother and a step grandson.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Twohig Funeral Home here, and at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Church, Byron. The Rev. Richard Fechhelm will officiate, and burial will be in the parish cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
