James "Grandpa Jim" R. Ausloos, 70, Oakfield, Wis., passed away on July 20, 2014, unexpectedly at his home with his family by his side.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 24, at 6 p.m. at Sons of Zebedee St. James Catholic Church in Oakfield, with Rev. Father Michael Peterson presiding. A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 24, from 3 to 6 p.m. at church. Burial will take place at St. John Cemetery in Byron, Wis., on Friday, July 25.

James was born on June 22, 1944, the son of Melvin and Mary (LeBreck) Ausloos in Oconto, Wis. Jim graduated from Oconto High School in 1962. He was united in marriage to Mary Helen Collien on May 22, 1965, at St. James Catholic Church in Oakfield, the church where they have been lifelong members. He served a four year machinist apprenticeship at Nordberg Mfg. in Milwaukee, before joining the Wisconsin State Patrol as a trooper. He retired from the State Patrol in June of 1998 after 30 dedicated years of service.

Jim was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed going to Lake Erie walleye fishing with his wife, son and grandsons. He also enjoyed going up to Glidden by his son's cabin with his family.

Jim is survived by his wife, Mary; their son, Brian James (Tina) Ausloos; his grandsons, Cody and Casey; his mother-in-law, Dorothy Collien; his sisters, Janice Barr, Oconto; Bonnie (Roger) Pagel, Abrams; and Dawn (Dr. Todd) Schroeder, Manitowoc; in-laws, Dale (Susan) Collien of Fond du lac; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law, Milton "Bud" Collien; and his nephew, Matthew Pagel.
