JEANNE O’BRIEN

 

Funeral services were scheduled to be held Wednesday, Aug. 9, for Jeanne E. O’Brien of 1470 Garay La., Port Washington.

Miss O’Brien, 73, died of cancer Sunday, Aug 6, at St. Joseph’s Hospice in Milwaukee.

She was born Feb. 2, 1927, in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Charles H. and Loretta E. Ferguson O’Brien.

Miss O’Brien graduated from Fond du Lac High School and received her bachelor of nursing degree from Marquette University in Milwaukee.

She worked as a registered nurse at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac, Mercy Hospital in Florida, Madison General and St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison, the Red Cross and as a private nurse in Milwaukee for 12 years prior to retiring to Port Washington.

“She loved Port Washington,” said Linda Hillebrand, who is married to Miss O’Brien’s nephew.  “She kept telling me moving to Port was the best thing she had ever done.  She was so happy she moved to Port.”

Miss O’Brien was a member of St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church in Port Washington and the Port Washington Women’s Club.  She also enjoyed golfing at Edgewater Golf Club in Grafton.

“Jeanne was a plain and ordinary person with many wonderful experiences throughout her life.”  Mrs. Hillebrand said.

She is survived by her brother James E. O’Brien of Milwaukee and nieces and nephews.

Miss O’Brien was preceded in death by her sister Eunice M. Hillebrand and her brothers Leonard C. and Father Claude T. O’Brien.

A Mass of Christian Burial was scheduled to be held at 7  p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, at St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church in Port Washington, with Father Joseph Haas officiating.

Burial will be Thursday in St. John’s Cemetery, Bryon.

Visitation was scheduled to be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church in Port Washington.

Memorials to the charity of the donor’s choice have been requested by the family.

Eernisse Funeral Home Fort Washington, assisted the family.
