Obituary
John Attenberger, 69 years of age, a former resident of this city, passed away in death on Friday afternoon at his home in Oakfield, after having been ill for several months.
The deceased was born in this city in 1862. He spent his youth in this city, and for some years worked on the Gerhard Naber farm, east of this city. He was married to Miss Adeline Zimmermann, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Zimmermann, pioneer residents of this city.
About 35 years ago he left this city, and for some time the family resided on a farm near Le Roy. When he became ill, he moved to Oakfield, where he passed away on Friday. Surviving are the widow, two sons, Eugene and John of Oakfield; four daughters, Mrs. Albert Collien, Oakfield; Mrs. Peter Olson, Janesville; Mrs. Edward Lester, Hollywood, Calif.; and Miss Lucille, of Glendale, Calif. Six grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive.
Funeral services were held on Monday morning at 10 a. m. from St. James church. The Rev. G. W. Kostermann officiated, and burial was held in the Oakfield cemetery.
Those from this city who attended were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Zimmerman and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Zimmermann. The widow is a sister of Henry and Louis. Others present at the funeral were Mrs. Charles Guth, Mrs. John Zimmermann, Walter Klein and Mrs. Jennie Smith, Milwaukee, and Mr. and Mrs. Matt. Zimmermann, Lomira.
