LAWRENCE HALFMAN

Lawrence J “Shrimp” Halfman, 87, formerly of Oakfield, died Sunday, Jan. 5, 1997, at Lincoln House Group Home in Fond du Lac, where he resided.

He was born on May 21, 1909, in St. Peter, a son of Edward and Anna Bersch Halfman.  He married Dorothy Polenske.

Mr. Halfman was a heavy equipment operator for the Fond du Lac County Highway Department for more than 40 years.  He was a member of the Eagles Club, Knights of Columbus, American Legion and VFW.  He served in the U. S. Air Force during World War II in the European, African and Middle Eastern theaters.

Survivors include three brothers, Clarence and his wife Helen, Gregor and his wife Mercedes, and Norman and his wife Gladys, all of Fond du Lac; one sister, Dorothy Lemke of Fond du Lac; and other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were his wife, three brothers, Adolph, Ervin and Tony; and one sister, Marie.

Services:  A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. James Catholic Church.  The Rev. Donald J. Zerkel will officiate.  Inurnment will be at a later date at Shrine of Rest Mausoleum.  There is no visitation.  Uecker-Wit Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
