Mary Ellen Gindt, 82, of Fond du Lac, formerly of Green Bay, passed away on Friday, December 3, 2010, at the St. Francis Home in Fond du Lac.
She was born on November 8, 1928, in Fond du Lac, the daughter of the late Barney M. and Florence C. (Lehman) Gindt. Mary Ellen attended St. Mary's Catholic School in Lomira, Lomira High School, St. Agnes High and Marian College in Fond du Lac. She earned a Bachelor Degree in elementary education.
Mary Ellen taught in Pennsylvania, Indiana, Wisconsin, Nicaragua C.A. and lastly at St. John the Baptist School in Howard, Wisconsin. She later was employed as a caregiver for a paraplegic for over 25 years.
Those Mary Ellen leaves behind to cherish her memory include her sister, Dolores (Ernie) Kraus of Fond du Lac and their son, Myron (Vanessa) Kraus; two brothers, John (Lilly) Gindt of Lomira and their children, Mark Gindt (Joannie Grosenick), Brenda (Jim) O'Brien, Tony (Joanne) Gindt and Brian (Sharon) Gindt and Rodney (Kathleen) Gindt of Brownsville and their daughter, Lori (Butch)Hoelsher; her great-nieces, Melissa Gindt and Elizabeth (Lucas) Smith; a great-great-niece, Baileigh Smith, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Mary Ellen was preceded in death by two brothers, Barnabas and Norman, aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Ellen was held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 6, 2010, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 699 Milwaukee Street in Lomira. Father Dennis Budka officiated and burial followed in the parish cemetery.
Relatives and friends called at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass.
Memorials to the Catholic Missions in the Vicariate of Bluefields, Nicaragua C.A. are appreciated.
Mary Ellen's family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the nurses and staff at the McCormick Home in Green Bay, the St. Francis Home and St. Agnes Hospice Hope in Fond du Lac for the compassionate care provided to Mary Ellen.
