Obituary

M.C. STERR OF LOMIRA DIES AT 75

Melvin Charles Sterr, 75, Lomira, died at 7 a.m. today at St. Agnes Hospital of an apparent heart attack.

He was born March 9, 1893, at LeRoy, the son of Albert Sr. and Minnie Franke Sterr. He married Minnie Hesprich on Oct. 9, 1917, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Lomira.

Mr. Sterr was a World War I veteran. He was a member of American Legion Post 347, Lomira.

He was vice president of Star Malt Canning Co. until his retirement in 1955.

Survivors include his widow; four sons, Dr. Ambrose Sterr of De Pere, Roger and Gerald of Lomira and Thomas of Rockford, Ill.; five brothers, Arthur, Albert Jr., Roman and Lloyd all of Lomira and Elmer of Loyal, Wis.; and 13 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Lomira, with Pastor Nathan Retzlaf officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lomira.

Friends may call after 3 p.m. Wednesday at Kietzer Funeral Home, Lomira, until noon Thursday when the body will be moved to the church.
