PERRY EARL “HOGAN” FLURY

Perry Earl “Hogan” Flury, 86, a resident of 147 N. Elm St., Oakfield, passed away Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at All About Life Rehabilitation Center, Fond du Lac.

He was born a son of the late Edward and Olive Towne Flury on Nov. 26, 1916, in Oakfield.

Hogan married Evelyn Rozek Nolan on July 27, 1957, at St. James Catholic Church, Oakfield.

He was a 1934 graduate of Oakfield High School.  He served in the U.S. Army, field artillery, from April 17, 1941, to Sept. 4, 1945, in the South Pacific.  He was employed by the Fond du Lac County Highway Department for 32 years prior to retiring in 1979.  He was a member of Sons of Zebedee, St. James Catholic Church of Oakfield, and a member of VFW Post 8092, having served as its commander.  He was a former member of the Oakfield Volunteer Fire Department and the Knights of Columbus Council 664.  Hogan was an avid Packers fan and a 55-year season ticket holder, a golfer, bowler, and a former baseball umpire.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn; one son, Joseph (Sue) Flury of Genoa, Ill.; four step-sons, James (special friend Susan) Nolan of Fond du Lac, Thomas (Karen) Nolan of Waupun, Michael (Cindy) Nolan of Emerado, N.D., and John (Lori) Nolan of Byron, Ill.; three stepdaughters, Nancy (David) Vanderkin of Waupun, Sandra (John ) Kraus of Fond du Lac and Sharon (William ) Prickette of Fond du Lac; three grandsons; 18 step-grandchildren; and 28 step-great-grandchildren.  He is further survived by two brothers, David (Polly) Flury of Janesville, and Donald Flury of Oakfield; and one sister-in-law Peggy Flury of Fond du Lac; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Hogan was preceded in death by one brother, Roy Flury; an infant half-sister, and one step-great-grandson, Zachary Kraus.

Services:  A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002, at Sons of Zebedee Catholic Church, Oakfield.  The Rev. James B. Posanski will officiate.  Cremation will follow services, with inurnment in the Avoca Cemetery.

Visitation:  Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, 2002, at Zacherl Funeral Home, where a Parish Vigil Service will be held at 7 p-.m., with Deacon Larry Hughes officiating, and again from 10 a.m. until the time of services on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002, at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Hogan’s name may be directed to the Oakfield Volunteer Fire Department or Sons of Zebedee Church.
