Funeral services for Peter Kiefer, 86, a longtime Lomira blacksmith, will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Kietzer Funeral Home, Lomira, and at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Lomira. He died Monday at Eagle River Memorial Hospital.
The Rev. John Goebel will officiate and burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends of Mr. Kiefer may call after 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.
He was born Jan. 11, 1888, at Theresa, a son of Peter and Margret Steinmetz Kiefer Sr. He married Clara Schmidbauer at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Leroy, on Oct. 6, 1914.
While in business, Mr. Kiefer operated under the name of Peter Kiefer & Sons Blacksmith Shop in Lomira.
He was a member of the Lomira Volunteer Fire Department for 30 7years, and served terms as a village trustee. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church, Lomira, and Holy Name Society.
Survivors include his widow; three sons, Andrew of Slinger, Hugo of Waupun and Raymond of Lomira; and four daughters, Mrs. Nick Cariello of Racine, Mrs. Jerome Schalinske of Medford, Mrs. Henry Goebel of Horicon and Mrs. Arthur Collien of Eagle River.
Also surviving are 23 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant son and two sisters.
