Rev. Walter N. Morgan 88, of Fond du Lac died Saturday Nov. 17, 2007 at St. Francis Nursing Home. He was born on April 2, 1919 in St. Anna, WI, the son of the late Louis and Olive Wietor Morgan. He attended Harrison School District 6, he entered St. Lawrence Seminary in 1933 and completed his studies for the priesthood at St. Francis Seminary, 1939-1944. He was ordained on October 28, 1944 by the Most Reverend Moses E. Kiley, Archbishop of Milwaukee, at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, Milwaukee.

Father's priestly ministry began on November 22, 1944 as an assistant at St. Clement Parish in Sheboygan. His next two assignments as an assistant were at St. Agnes Parish, Milwaukee, August 22, 1946, and beginning on February 21, 1949, at St. Mary Parish, Menomonee Falls. On September 21, 1961, Father was appointed Chaplain at St. Joseph's Convent in Campbellsport and administrator of St. Mathias Parish in Auburn; he served in these ministries until his retirement on November 19, 1984. In retirement he served at Sacred Heart Church and as chaplain for the Fond du Lac Nursing Home. He was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Chaplain, CUSA (Catholic Union of Sick America) and member of the Fond du Lac clergy association.

Survivors include many cousins and many other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday Nov. 23, 2007 at 11:00 AM at the Holy Family Parish the Sacred Heart Church at 200 Peters Avenue Fond du Lac with Most Reverend Timothy M. Dolan, archbishop of Milwaukee officiating with burial at St. John's Parish Cemetery, Town of Byron. Friends may call at the church from 9:00 AM until the time of the service. The Twohig Funeral Home of Fond du Lac is assisting the family with the arrangements.
