Obituary
Roman J. "Romie" Sterr, 81, of Brownsville, died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2001, at Hope Nursing Home, Lomira.
He was born June 24, 1919, in the Town of Lomira, the son of Alvin and Amilia Schabel Sterr.
On Feb. 25, 1941, he married Erna Keller at St. Andrews Catholic Church, LeRoy. She died in 1948.
On Nov.21, 1953, he married Hildegard Kormann at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, LeRoy.
Roman was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Lomira, and was a farmer his entire life. He was a member of the Rock River Baseball Hall of Fame and loved to play cards.
Survivors include his wife, Hildegard; five children, Louise (Edgar) Schwartz of West Bend, Kenneth (Barbra) Sterr of Iron Ridge, Gerianne (Leslie) Weyer of Brownsville, Gerd (Patricia) Sterr of Fond du Lac and Amy (Harold Jr.) Reuter of Lomira; nine grandchildren, Edgar Schwartz Jr., Timothy Schwartz, Kevin Sterr, Tim Sterr, Troy Sterr, Roxanne Sterr, Christy Sterr, Shawn Weyer and Katie Weyer; seven great-grandchildren; three brothers and sisters, Earl (Helen) Sterr of Fond du Lac, Milton (Cyrena) Sterr of Knowles and Lucille Kuen of Brownsville; and one brother-in-law, Erving Giese of Fond du Lac.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Erna; his parents; one son, Roman Jr.; and one sister, Laverna.
Services: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Lomira, with the Rev. Vincent Holubowicz officiating. Burial will be at the parish cemetery.
Visitation: Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. Saturday until the time of the services.
Memorials may be directed to St. Mary's Church or School. Kietzer Funeral Home, Lomira, I s serving the family.
