Funeral services for Miss Rose Breit, 87, formerly of 137 E. Division St., will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Zacherl Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church. She died at 8 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, 1980, at Rolling Meadows Home for the Aged.
Her grand-nephew, the Rev. Melvin Breit of Milwaukee, will officiate, and burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Lomira. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
She was born March 30, 1892, in the Town of Lomira, Dodge County, the daughter of the late Peter and Anna Roth Breit.
Miss Breit was graduated from the former Fond du Lac High School, continued her education at Oshkosh and Milwaukee State Teachers Colleges, receiving a bachelor of education degree from the Milwaukee College and masters of education degree from Marquette University.
She taught in the Dodge County schools, Lomira Sate Graded Schools and elementary schools in Milwaukee, from which she retired in 1956 after 26 ½ years. She then joined the Marian College staff as an instructor and student teacher supervisor.
Marian College conferred the Magnificat Award upon her in 1963 for distinguished service in Catholic education. She was a member of Chapter XI of Delta Kapa Gamma, a national honor society for women teachers.
Miss Breit was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Altar and Rosary Society, Daughters of Isabella and Third Order of St. Francis. She served as an officer in the various organizations and also with the Catholic Council of Women in the Eighth District.
Survivors include nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.
