Rudolph F. Berchtold, 89, formerly of Forest Avenue, died Saturday, July 22, 1995, at Rolling Meadows Nursing Home.

He was born on Aug. 3, 1905, in Hoboken, N.J., a son of Jacob and Barbara Berchtold.  He married Charlotte Klein in New York.

Mr. Berchtold was a member of St. John the Baptist Church in Byron.  He was employed by the New York City Department of Transportation for over 35 years.  He was a member of Third Degree Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include five daughters, Celeste Nielsen of Elburn,  Ill., Gertrude Jamison and her husband Jack of Nevada, Ruth Zuber and her husband Victor of Fond du Lac, Lois Hendricks and her husband Cal, and Janet Berchtold, both of Kingsport, Tenn.; 22 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his wife in 1984; one son and one sister.

Services:  Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John’s Church in Byron.  The Rev. Donald J. Zerkel will officiate.  Burial will be at the parish cemetery.

Visitation:  At the church on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to the time of services.  Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
