STANLEY RIES

Stanley Michael Ries, 51, of Route 1, Brownsville, died Monday, Dec. 4, 1989, at his home, following an apparent heart attack.

He was born June 19, 1938, in Fond du Lac, a son of Dr. Michael and Beatrice Frei Ries. On April 20, 1963, he married Margaret A. Gassner at St. Andrew's Church, LeRoy.

Mr. Ries was a graduate of Lomira High School and Marquette University where he received a bachelor's degree in liberal arts. He received his master's degree in social work at University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Mr. Ries was employed with the State of Wisconsin, Department of Health and Social Services, Division of Corrections for 27 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Lomira.

Survivors include his wife; his stepmother, Margaret L. Ries of Brownsville; two sisters, Katherine Harden of Livermore, Calif., and Paula Gotburg and her husband Kenneth of San Diego, Calif.; two brothers, Thomas and his wife, Vizbulite of Berlin, and Michael and his wife Barbara of Eau Claire; his mother-in-law, Margaret Gassner of Leroy; brother-in-law, Erwin Gassner of LeRoy; thee stepsisters, Velma Rieschle and her husband Claus of Marco Island, Fla., Carol Cooke and her husband Gary of Dayton, Ohio, and Joanne Sommers and her husband Michael of Dundee; and two stepbrothers, Bruce Frei of Sarasota, Fla, ad Warren Frei of Bettendorf, Iowa. His mother and father preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Lomira. The Rev. Steve Stradinger will officiate. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Kietzer Funeral Home, Lomira, where a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m.
